Admittedly, blogging is not my favorite thing to do. I would rather be out shooting, editing a session or just hanging with friends and family.
There have been a lot of changes for me personally these last few months but honestly the change has been in the works for months and even years. My dad recently moved in with us. He has a form of dementia called aphasia. It affects short term memory, speech, reading, writing and who knows what else as the days and years pass. My husband and I wanted to help make his life easier and free him from the day to day stresses of taking care of oneself. When your mind fails you it’s funny how quickly the simple tasks become difficult. I have taken on the role of caretaker for him but the good news is that it doesn’t so much feel that way at every point in the day. My dad definitely needs help everyday but we keep it simple as much as we can. We have our daily routine of morning coffee and a visit to the dog park. I sneak in a quick work out after our morning coffee while my dad showers and then we make our trip to the dog park. It’s a good routine because everyday he knows we have a plan. The rest of the day is ours and I try to fit in one activity everyday. Sometimes it’s as simple as running errands and grocery shopping. Other days we spend at the zoo, going bowling or even stopping by the pool if it gets too hot outside.
I’ve been finding getting my dad settled and making sure he’s entertained takes up a good part of my day and balancing work with everything else has been a challenge. So you can imagine how easily blogging fell to the bottom of the to do list. Also my site totally crashed a few months back and I had to have the entire thing revamped which threw my world upside down. So yeah the was a super fun time.
I have made a vow to myself to start blogging regularly again. Plus my website designer says it’s good for my SEO to keep a regular blog. So in lieu of blogging about everything I’ve been shooting since before my site crashed, here is a smattering of what you’ve missed. My mantra from hence forth will be, you will blog, you will blog, you will blog.
